We are a fast-growing scale-up revolutionising the food-tech sector through data-driven insights and advanced analytics. Leveraging the Google Cloud platform and MongoDB, we are building scalable data solutions.
As a Data Engineer, you will design and implement robust data pipelines to support our growing business needs.
A typical Day:
Design and develop scalable, reliable data pipelines using the Google Cloud stack and MongoDB.
Ingest, process, and store structured and unstructured data from diverse sources into our data lake.
Optimise data pipelines for performance and scalability.
Implement and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, implementing proactive measures for reliability and performance.
Collaborate with DevOps to automate deployment, monitoring, and alerting processes for data pipelines.
Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers working with data.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. (Ideal but not essential)
3+ years of experience in data engineering
Proficiency in programming languages in Python
Understanding of NoSQL databases
Strong knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and dimensional modelling.
Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and metadata management practices.
Proven track record of delivering large-scale data engineering projects in an Agile environment.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to optimise data pipelines.
Self starter with the ability to drive projects without a lot of supervision
Nice to have:
Familiarity with the Google Cloud environment
Knowledge in other languages like Scala, Go, or Java.
MongoDb experience in live environments
Experience with Apache Beam or Apache Spark for distributed data processing or event sourcing technologies like Kafka.
