Job title: Clinical Data Management Engineer

Job Description

As a Clinical Data Management Engineer, you will work in a Data Management team of 10+ people to successfully deliver databases. You’ll be responsible for delivering quality healthcare databases operating our AI platform, including:

  • Plan and execute the data processing track and timelines in multiple hospitals and therapeutic areas in parallel (both functional & technical aspects of the projects belong to your responsibilities). Therapeutic areas include a.o. cardiology, oncology, gastro-enterology, respiratory
  • Adapt clinical processing pipelines and accommodate clinical quality feedback in collaboration with our R&D teams (NLP engineers, data engineers) and medical terminology teams
  • Oversee the correct usage of medical ontology libraries and the compliancy of data storage in the OMOP CDM
  • Communicate with clinicians and data scientists at our clients about research questions, methodology definitions, clinical anomalies
  • Steer and support process improvements in a variety of areas such as quality assurance, pipeline deployment, medical ontology usage. This includes developing and deploying scripts that drive the automation and scalability of our operational processes

Skills & Experience

Essentials:

  • Experience in working with (large) datasets (2+ years)
  • Having a degree in (para-)medical sciences or a related field (physiotherapy, audiology, …) or experience in working with medical & clinical data
  • Positive attitude, team spirit, analytic problem-solving skills detail oriented
  • Experience with project management, self-starting, adaptable, enthusiastic
  • An eye for customer-excellence, spirit of accountability, professionality towards clients
  • Languages: English (required), French or Dutch (1 of the 2)
  • 3-5 years of relevant job experience

Nice to haves (= technologies/expertise you will be exposed to, but for which previous experience is not a must to be considered for the job):

  • Experience with SQL, Power BI or other BI-tools
  • Experience with Spark (Databricks)
  • Experience with Python, preferably to automate data cleaning, data processing and/or data quality assessment
  • Understanding of cloud storage and cloud computing in one of the regular Public Clouds: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Knowledge of hospital IT systems and medical communication protocols (e.g. HL7)
  • Knowledge  of medical ontology libraries (e.g. UMLS, Athena, …)  and OMOP CDM
  • Experience with NLP or other types of machine learning
