Internship: Java Team: ProGuardCORE support for Java value objects @ Guardsquare in Leuven (BE)

In our Leuven-based Java team we work on manipulating Java bytecode. All our software is based on our open source bytecode manipulation library ProGuardCORE ( https://github.com/Guardsquare/proguard-core ).
On top of ProguardCORE we mainly develop 2 different products: ProGuard and DexGuard. ProGuard is a shrinker and optimizer for all Java and Android applications, it makes them smaller and faster. DexGuard is a code hardening tool, which makes Android apps harder to understand for a reverse engineer.

Project:

In recent years the Java development cycle has picked up speed and new releases are being introduced every 6 months. Project Valhalla is a longer term effort to introduce some major new features to the JVM. One of the sub-projects that is currently in development under the Valhalla project is value objects.

Value objects are class instances that have only final instance fields and lack object identity. The goal of the project is to implement preliminary support for value objects in the ProGuardCORE library. This entails implementing changes to model classes, introducing new instructions and modifying existing code to parse Java classes containing value objects.
