Job Overview
As a Staff Engineer working on developing our notifications systems, you will serve as the technical authority and leader for our notification-related projects. You will drive the design, development, and optimization of our notification system, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and performance. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding the team to deliver high-quality notifications solutions that meet our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the architectural design and technical direction of our notifications queuing system, encompassing the delivery of large numbers of events to hundreds of thousands of users, daily.
    • Lead the implementation of this new system, in accordance with modern software engineering best practices.
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, fostering their growth and excellence.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and project requirements.
    • Set and enforce best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, and documentation.
    • Tackle complex technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
    • Evaluate and recommend technologies and tools to enhance the notifications system.
    • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance.
    • Act as a technical role model, exemplifying expertise, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our notification system remains at the forefront of innovation.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • A minimum of seven years of  experience as a Software Engineer, with experience working with notifications or queueing systems.
    • Proven track record of designing and architecting scalable, real-time notification solutions.
    • Strong proficiency in relevant programming languages: JavaScript or Typescript is essential, but experience in Java or Python would be a bonus.
    • Experience with cloud computing platforms (preferably AWS).
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills and in-depth knowledge of software engineering principles.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git).
    • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
    • Previous experience in a senior technical leadership or architectural role would be nice to have.
    • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) would be nice to have.
    • Familiarity with microservices architecture and relevant design patterns would be nice to have.
