Your Responsibilities:

  • As a Back-end developer, we expect you to have an understanding of the current tech environment and help us make the right decisions by understanding business requirements and translating these into strong scalable systems.

  • Once the technical design is complete, we expect you to take part in the implementation with the rest of your team. Your focus will be to:

  • Architecture and build scrapers and ETL pipelines that ingest the data that power AppTweak

  • Architecture and build API’s that make those data available

  • Monitor and optimize our message queue systems

  • Monitor and optimize our infrastructure

Your profile:

Must-have

  • Recently graduated from a bachelor or master’s degree in computer science or engineering.

  • Previous experience or familiar with creating database schemas (design data models, not only writing SQL queries) that represent and support business processes.

  • Data migration, transformation, and scripting don’t scare you.

Nice-to-have:

  • A first work experience or previous internship.

  • Experience writing backend code and experience with AWS / Kubernetes / Docker are a plus.

  • GitHub profile or link to open source work.

  • Full-stack experience

  • You love food!

Our Tech team

1. Technologies we use:

  • We’re mainly relying on three different languages:
    • Ruby in the backend (for APIs and crawlers).

    • Typescript in the frontend (for our React SPA).

    • Python (mainly used by our Data Science team).

  • Everything is hosted on AWS and running on K8s, and we have created a robust CI system to develop and deploy our code quickly. We deploy directly from Slack!

2. We are organized by squads.

  • One year and a half ago, we changed our internal organization by moving from a structure splitted by stack to something more features-oriented. We created cross-skill squads that are focused on specific parts of the tool to develop and maintain them more efficiently and quickly. Each of them is responsible for its roadmap, and everyone in the squad can participate in product discussions.

3. We value ownership and an entrepreneurial mindset.

What’s in it for you?

We care about you!

  • Flexibility in your work and opportunities for continuous learning and creative thinking.

  • Supportive and collaborative environment focused on personal growth.

  • 20 paid holidays per year + 12 days RTT on top of the fundamentals (meal vouchers, annual “éco-chèques”, hospitalization & group insurance, end-of-the-year bonus, etc.)

  • Fresh fruits, nuts, and snacks self-serve in the office.

  • 1 volunteering day every quarter dedicated to helping a Brussels-based organization.

  • Chance to discover new food recipes, because yes, we love food!
